Beginners' Lessons

I cater for all standards of beginners from absolute novices to people who have been driving for years but who have failed, or not taken, their test. Beginners are taken from the fundamentals of driving through to their theory and practical tests. I use sample theory test questions and also mock driving tests to improve my pupils' chances of success.

I have taught, and still teach, many students at the Basingstoke College of Technology and the Queen Mary College.

Pass Plus (save £££'s on insurance)

Pass Plus Scheme

If you are young and have just passed your test then you are probably itching to get into a car and start driving. BUT...

  • One in five of new drivers will be involved in an accident in their first year of driving.
  • Per mile of driving, the risk of an accident involving injury or death is about seven times greater for 17-20 years old than for those aged 40 or over.
  • Drivers under 21 are involved in 15% of all accident deaths.
  • New drivers make up just 10% of licence holders, but are involved in 29% of accidents.
These statistics are quoted from the Pass Plus website. Pass Plus is a scheme which has been set up by the Driving Standards Agency and a group of insurance companies. In return for you taking a few further lessons and reaching the necessary standard of driving you will benefit from lower insurance premiums. There is no test to pass!

Save £75

As an additional incentive Hampshire County Council currently offers a discount of £75 to drivers taking the scheme. There are conditions and only a few instructors in Basingstoke are registered for this discount, myself being one of them. See here for more details.

I have known some 17 year olds save hundreds of pounds on their motor insurance by going through Pass Plus but you do need to do it within a year of passing your test to qualify for the discounts. Interested pupils usually sign up for it as soon as they have passed their practical test.
